Business Name: Unique Finds for Kids
Yolanda Ayo, founder and CEO of Unique Finds For Kids, is a happily married wife, a mother to two wonderful children, a native New Yorker, and a rising entrepreneur. She holds both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Allied Health Studies, with subspecialty in Health Care Management, from the College of Mount Saint Vincent. In 2000, Yolanda began her career in the healthcare recruitment industry at a medical search firm, where she worked her way up to becoming the Director of Recruitment. During her time working in healthcare recruitment, Yolanda regularly pondered entering the retail/fashion industry. She developed the idea for Unique Finds For Kids while sitting at her desk one day at the firm. Following nearly 17 years of service, the doors of the medical search firm closed, but the window of opportunity leading to entrepreneurship simultaneously opened, pushing Yolanda to bring her business idea to life. After overcoming the inevitable feelings of uncertainty, in addition to taking classes and attending networking events, Yolanda launched Unique Finds For Kids in February 2018!
Unique Finds For Kids is an online children's boutique that offers quality, sustainably-made, everyday wear and specialty pieces. For each purchase made, a percentage of the proceeds is donated to The Parkinson's Foundation to raise awareness of Parkinson's Disease as well as for continued research. To date, Unique Finds For Kids has been featured in various trunk shows throughout Westchester County. Additionally, Yolanda was featured as a Business Spotlight in the March 2018 issue of Black Westchester. Yolanda credits her support and inspiration to her family, her friends, and her mentors. In the future, she hopes to take Unique Finds For Kids to the next level and broaden its reach. Yolanda encourages anyone who is contemplating entrepreneurship to align themselves with like minded individuals as they embark on this journey to becoming successful entrepreneurs.
